Bhubaneswar: Baarta, a play narrating the ordeal of a common man who reels under the vicious circle of politicians and bureaucrats, was staged at Rabindra Mandap here Sunday.
The play was presented by Nupur, a troupe from Baripada, and was organised by the Department of Odisha Language, Literature and Culture, Odisha Natak Akademi in association with Odisha Natak Sangha and Natyadhra.
Retired IAS Durga Charan Sahoo who was invited as the Chief Guest inaugurated the event in presence of dramatist Akhil Singh, President of Odisha Natak Sangha Haren Sahoo, Secretary Lala Biren Ray and Vice President Prakash Maharana.
The story of the play was based on the dominance of politicians and bureaucrat over the common people. The play dealt with sensitive issues like women empowerment, irregularities in government policies and inequality in the society. The play ended with an encouraging social message for the people.
Orissa POST interacted with the writer and director of the play Kumarmani Nayak who said the story deals with a diverse range of political issues and gives an appealing message towards the end which indeed is a must watch for all concerned citizens.
