Bhawanipatna: Steel and mines and works minister Prafulla Kumar Mallik instructed officers to finish construction of the government medical college building at Bhagabari and the Biju Express Road in Kalahandi district.
A review meeting was organised at the conference hall in the Collector’s office regarding this.
Sources said only 16 acres were acquired by the administration and around 98 acres have to be acquired from Ammapani to Golmunda for the Biju Express Road.
The government has sanctioned Rs 25 crore for the 7-km road. But there is a need for more funds to acquire land, said officers at the meeting.
At the review meeting, Mallik assured locals that he would ask the road and transport minister to sanction extra funds for the project. The minister had reviewed the work at many places on the by-pass road. He also instructed officials to acquire the remaining 8 acres for the Utkela Airstrip.
While visiting Bhangabari Medical College, he instructed officials to finish construction of the building within three months.
Narlla MLA Bhupindar Singh, Collector Gavali Parag Harshad and Additional Collector Sarat Chandra Srichandan too attended the review meeting.
