Dubai: After defeating Pakistan, India is set to face New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Sunday, March 2, at the Dubai International Stadium.

According to reports, Rohit Sharma did not take any throwdowns during practice as he is nursing a sore hamstring. Instead, he was seen in discussions with head coach Gautam Gambhir and the rest of the coaching staff. However, he did engage in some shadow batting. Rohit is reportedly exercising caution to prevent aggravating his injury during the three-hour session.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli spent a significant amount of time facing spinners. Bowling coach Morne Morkel joined the team, and Kohli practiced against bowlers like Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja. He also spent over half an hour batting against the net bowlers.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami was in full rhythm, moving the ball both ways and striking Kohli’s pads twice. Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh also looked determined to give their best during the session. Under Morne Morkel’s supervision, all the fast bowlers appeared well-prepared for the challenge against New Zealand.

After suffering from a fever, Rishabh Pant has fully recovered and batted for a considerable amount of time during the nets.

Notably, Shubman Gill, India’s best batsman in the tournament so far, did not step onto the field during the session.
