Badri’s son Debasish produced in court

Keonjhar: Debasish Patra, the son of school and mass education minister Badri Narayan Patra, who was arrested at Tangi area in Cuttack Wednesday, was produced in court Thursday. He was arrested for his alleged involvement in attack on police at Padana Chhak in Keonjhar September 11. In the incident, five persons were injured.

He was produced in court amid heavy security while a large number of local BJD cadres and leaders were following him.

The complaint has been filed by Satyabrata Jena, a local resident, at Ghasipura police station. Several sections of IPC and SC and ST Act were applied against him.

Police booked Debasish Patra, Madan Mohan Sahu, Pradiap Sahu, Akshay Sahu, Ashish Behera, Sikun Behera, Maheswar Sahu, Manoranjan Sahu, Niranjan Sahu and Ranjan Jena.

It was alleged that they had attacked a police team when it was in Ghasipura area to arrest an accused.

Some party leaders said he had met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik recently even though he knew that he was already an accused. His supporters are in apprehension while police are alert in the area in view of possible law and order situation.

DSP James Tappo said that Debasish was arrested from Tangi area in connection with attack on police at Padana.
