Jeypore: Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati has supported the demand of the Koraput Bar Association to set up a permanent bench of the Orissa High Court at Jeypore. He was addressing a press conference at the Jeypore Congress Bhavan Wednesday.
Justifying the demand for an HC bench at Jeypore, Bahinipati said, “Jeypore meets all the norms framed by the Jaswant Singh Commission for establishing a permanent HC bench.”
This place is located around 550 km from the Cuttack HC, and the area also deserves an HC bench as it is a tribal district and there are too many isolated areas in Koraput and Malkangiri districts.
Bahinipati also appealed to the Bar Association of undivided Koraput district to support the bandh called by the Koraput District Bar Association December 18.
Pledging his support, he said the District Congress Committee is supporting the December 18 bandh, and if the demand is not met they will go for an indefinite bandh throughout the district.
Sources said the District Bar Association President and other members have called an indefinite strike till a permanent HC bench is established at Jeypore.
The District Bar Association and all Bar Associations of undivided Koraput district are holding talks to make the movement successful throughout the district.
