Bhadrak: After low pressure-induced rains that lashed Bhadrak district for past several days, the Baitarani river is overflowing at Akhuapada anicut Thursday morning, a report said.
The river’s water level reached 17.56 metre at 6am, as against the danger mark being at 17.83 metre. It has been learnt that, the Baitarani river water level has been rising by 0.89 metre per hour.

On the other hand, lowland areas under different blocks in Bhadrak district have been submerged in rainwater, following low pressure-induced rain. It is said that, rainwater could gradually escalate and reach the danger mark, if rainfall continues at upper catchment of the river.
The meteorology department has predicted heavy to heavier rainfall in Bhadrak district in the days ahead. The district administration has issued red alert and warned fishermen not to venture into the seas.
