Balasore: Just a few hours after BJD candidate Swarup Das exercised his franchise at booth no-160, BJP candidate Manas Dutta was seen registering his vote in the Balasore Sadar by-poll Tuesday.
Dutta was seen casting his vote at Haji Nasiruddin High School of Golapokhari area in the district.
Notably, Manas Dutta, the son of the late MLA Madan Mohan Dutta, is contesting as the BJP candidate in Balasore Sadar.
Similarly, Congress candidate Mamata Kundu has also registered her vote in the by-election.
Keeping the prevailing pandemic situation in mind, all the voters including Dutta and Kundu were allowed into the booth after their thermal screenings. The voters are also being provided with a pair of gloves at the entrance.
A total of 2,30,296 voters are expected to exercise their franchise at 346 booths in Balasore Sadar. While the constituency recorded 12.11 per cent polling till 9am, it witnessed 27.06 per cent polling by 11am.
