Balasore’s contributions to Odia language incomparable: Satpathy

Balasore: “Balasore district made special contributions towards social and cultural changes in the state while other districts have been following this,” Tathagata Satpathy, editor of Odia daily Dharitri and English daily Orissa POST, said here Saturday.

He was speaking at a ceremony to mark the foundation day of the Balasore edition of Dharitri at Brit Kalyan Mandap here.

Speaking on the contemporary scenario of media, Satpathy said, ”There has been a sea change in the print media now. Despite digitization, the print media in countries, especially in Pakistan, Nepal, Indonesia and Malaysia has got a new lease of life.”

People in leading countries read newspapers and our children need to cultivate a habit of reading newspapers, he added.

“The contribution of people of Balasore to Odia language is incomparable. Each Odia should have love for his language,” he noted.

District Collector Ramesh Chandra Rout, DIG (eastern range) Amitendranath Sinha, social activist Subasini Jena, journalist Ranjan Bag, lawyer Bijay Panigrahi, social activist Bhagban Das and women leader Archana Nandi also spoke on the occasion.

Poetess Anjali Panda, danseuse Ronalisa Panda, social activist Gopamudra Mohapatra, entrepreneur Sangram Kumar Das, Rotarian Debendra Kumar Dhal, social activist Jasoda Nandan Ash, Nadiputra Sudarshan Das and Dr Kumar Gopal were felicitated at the ceremony.
