Bargarh: The normal life in Bheden was affected Thursday after a 12-hour bandh, called by Jai Kisan Andolan, demanding the disbursement of pending crop insurance for farmers.
The bandh, which started at 6 am is scheduled to end at 6 pm. The roads and streets wore a deserted look while the business establishments have downed their shutters.
The government and private schools also remained closed.
The Jai Kisan Andolan activists staged road blockades Thursday.
“Our demand is the early disbursement of pending dues under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Our strike will be intensified if there is further delay,” said Utpanna Kumar Bhoi, president, Jai Kisan Andolan Bargarh.
