Bandh hits normal life in Bolangir

Bolangir: The first day of a two-day Bolangir bandh called by Congress demanding construction of a bypass outside the town has thrown normal life out of gear in this town Thursday.

While traffic has come to a grinding halt with hundreds of vehicles left stranded, almost all shops, business establishments, offices and educational institutions remained closed.

The party activists took out a rally through the town. They also demanded adequate compensation for the family members of a college student who died after being hit by a speeding truck at Satyanarayan Pada Wednesday morning.

The members of truck and bus owners’ associations also extended support to the strike.
