Deogarh: A top official of the State Bank of India (SBI) was found hanging inside a hotel room in Deogarh town. The deceased banker was identified as Subash Agarwal, the SBI CAC manager.
Police said that Agarwal was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside the hotel room. He was staying in the hotel as he had not taken any accommodation after joining his duty at the Deogarh branch just four days ago.
The body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain cause of death. The investigation by local police is underway. Sources said that since joining the branch, Agarwal appeared disturbed and rarely talked to his colleagues.
Police even though calling it a case of suicide has not ruled out foul play. Family members of Agarwal have been asked to come to this town. Police are now waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of Agarwal’s death.
The family members of the deceased after reaching the hotel, claimed that they have no clue about the incident, as there was no dispute in the family. “It was only four days back that he had joined his duty here. We have no idea what happened as he could not do anything on his own,” said a relative. He added that Agarwal and his family members were scheduled to attend a wedding function, Friday evening.
