New Delhi: The Supreme Court deferred Monday the hearing in the Bansadhara water dispute case between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, to May 6. A two-judge bench comprising Justices DY Chandrachud and Hemant Gupta heard the petition filed by Odisha.
During the hearing, the counsel for Odisha government circulated a letter mentioning that the Bansadhara Water Dispute Tribunal has already been hearing the case.
It must be mentioned here that the Bansadhara Water Dispute Tribunal had given its final verdict in the matter in September 2017. The tribunal had allowed Andhra Pradesh to construct two barrages, Katragada and Niradi, on Bansadhara river.
Odisha had challenged the tribunal order through a Special Leave Petition in the apex court.
