Bargarh: Charubala Rath, the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Bargarh, Friday accused district Collector Monisha Banerjee of misbehavior and sought her transfer, Friday. In a letter to the secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Rath claimed that the Collector had mistreated her over a tender. Rath mentioned that she had received a sudden call from Collecter Banerjee regarding a tender from the Health Department, when she was on her way to visit a health programme February 21. She replied that she had joined recently and will enquire about the District Project Manager (DPM). She told her that the tender was in process. But the Collector misbehaved with her in a loud voice, Rath alleged. She further said in her letter that the Collector had misbehaved with her multiple times without understanding anything.
“During CM Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Jharbandh, a person died. Even after we handled the problem quickly, the Collector never commended our efforts,” she wrote in her letter. “I am upset over the Collector’s harsh behaviour. This is not the first time this has happened. She had also misbehaved with me in the past. She speaks as though she is mentally torturing someone,” Rath claimed.
In response to the CDMO’s charges, the Collector stated that she has not read the letter. “I did not get the mail. That has also not left any impression on me. She has the right to express herself, and she has done so,” stated the district Collector.
