Baripada: In a major breakthrough in the double murder case of Kukudagadi village, Sadar police arrested a person Sunday.
The accused has been identified as deceased Purna Hembram’s brother Ratha Hembram.
According to the police, Ratha is the prime accused who brutally murdered Purna (56) and his wife Singha (50) by slitting their throats.
The incident took place Saturday night when the couple was asleep. Ratha allegedly murdered them for practicing sorcery.
The couple was staying alone. Their son, a migrant labourer, after returning to the village went to his father-in-law’s house Saturday.
Locals spotted the two bodies and alerted the police.
