Baripada: A day after Puri’s Rath Yatra, the chariots of Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, were pulled by devotees in Baripada Rath Yatra Wednesday.
Baripada—known as second Srikshetra — witnessed a huge congregation of devotees for the age-old Rath Yatra in the town.
Although ‘Goti Pahandi’ ritual was performed Tuesday to take the deities atop the chariots, the pulling of chariots commenced Wednesday.
As per the tradition, devotees first pull Lord Balabhadra’s chariot, followed by Devi Subhadra’s and lastly Lord Jagannath’s.
Notably, the chariot of Devi Subhadra is pulled here exclusively by women devotees.
