Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty inaugurating the barrack at Cuttack, Thursday

Cuttack: A barrack for women police personnel, serving under the twin city urban police department (UPD), was inaugurated by Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty in presence of Cuttack DCP Akhilesvwar Singh, here Thursday.

Talking to media soon after the inauguration, the Commissioner said, “Today, we inaugurated a barrack for our women police personnel. The barrack provides accommodation for 100 police officers. It has been built at a cost of `20 lakh as estimated by the Odisha State Police Housing Corporation (OSPH&WC). There was a dire need for such a barrack here at Cuttack UPD.”
“At present one-third reservation has been made for women police and hence every year we are recruiting many women into our department. Even in the latest drive, around 40 woman constables will be recruited. Earlier, those who have been recruited had to suffer as there was lack of accommodation facility. Hope, this barrack will cater to their need,” he added.
