Bhubaneswar: Barsha, a two-day classical dance programme, organised by Chinta O Chetana held its concluding ceremony at Rabindra Mandap here Thursday.
It is the 40th edition of the dance festival being organised by city-based cultural body Chinta O Chetana.
Governor Ganeshi Lal who was invited as the Chief Guest lighted the ceremonial lamp and offered garlands on the portraits of former Chief Ministers of Odisha namely Nandini Satpathy, Biju Patnaik and Harekrushna Mahatab.
Other dignitaries present in the event included Minister of Women and Child Development Prafulla Samal, Founder of KIIT University Achyuta Samanta, General Secretary of Chinta O Chetana Surendra Dash and spiritual gurus Ram Narayan Das and Shree Sant.
Governor and other dignitaries presented on the dais felicitated Sitar player Subrat Dey, Odissi vocalists Bijay Kumar Jena and Rama Hari Das, Tabla player Amitab Sen and Odissi dancers Veena Chikkanahalli Seshadri, Rathikant Mohapatra and Gajendra Panda.
A book titled Neela Bharama Shree Jagannath which was written by Pradeep Kumar Chaudhray was unveiled at the event.
The programme commenced with a Vinayak Samarane which was presented by Preetisha Mohapatra. It was followed by a group dance recital by the students of Srjan, a premier Odissi dance institute.
Rama Hari Das and Bijay Kumar Jena presented a duet song recital related to Barsha.
