Bhubaneswar: Sabyasachi Satpathy, a former Big Boss 11 contestant and fashion designer, is now set to foray into acting. His first project is a short film Drawing the Line, wherein Sabyasachi portrays the character of a gay – Sameer, will stream on the Web soon.
Web movies and short films are very popular these days and every actor is keen on exploring these media, and Sabyasachi is the latest entrant into Web films from Odisha. After Big Boss 11, Sabyasachi had done fashion shows wherein he tried to promote Odia handloom and designs. Now, he is ready to showcase his acting skills.
Talking about his maiden acting venture, Sabyasachi said that it is a simple love story involving two guys, wherein one – Akash, portrayed by Soumya Banerjee, gets married under family and social pressures. He starts leading a normal life, but the two gay lovers meet seven years later at a bar and he wants to revive their relationship.
Akash gets emotional and tries to get physical with Sameer once again, the latter tries to discourage his friend from committing the same mistake they had committed years ago. Sameer explains to Akash that their relationship would not be a lasting one as it lacked commitment.
“Generally, we tend get back to our ex’s if they come back because there is love left in their hearts,” Sabyasachi said, adding, “However, this is not the case between two gays. Drawing the line actually draws a line between past and present Then and now.”
The short film, produced by Actors Studio and Trueomen, is of 10-minute duration. It has been directed by Sabyasachi and Fani Bhushan in Hindi and English. Drawing the lines will release by the end of July. Pocket Films is the distributor and telecast partner of the film that has been shot entirely in Bhubaneswar.
