Bear attacks leave 4 critical

Anandapur/Nilagiri: Four persons were critically injured in separate incidents of bear attacks in Keonjhar and Balasore districts Sunday.

Three persons were critically wounded in bear attacks in Panasadiha and Manoharpur panchayats under Ananadapur police limits in Keonjhar district.

Rengasa Ho, a resident of Adharjhar in Panasadiha was in a farmland to relieve himself when two bears attacked him, leaving him critical. He was admitted to the Anandapur sub-divisional hospital.

Similarly, Jiji Ho of Asanabahali was tending cattle in a nearby forest when a bear attacked him. He was rescued and sent to SCB after preliminary treatment.

In another case, Isun Soren of Manoharpur was working at his farm when a bear mauled him. He was admitted to the Anandapur hospital.

In yet another incident, two bears attacked a man leaving him critically wounded at Ringipur in Jamudiha panchayat under Nilagiri block of Balasore district. Jayram Singh (45) was admitted to the district headquarters hospital.  Early in the morning, Jayram was on his way out to relieve himself at the foothill of Swarnchuda. At that time, the animals attacked him. As he screamed for help, locals rushed to his rescue. The bears then ran into the nearby forest.
