Nabarangpur: A man died after being allegedly mauled to by a wild bear in the forest near Tipakhuda village in Nabarangpur district Saturday.
Bana Singh Gouda, the deceased who was a resident of Tipakhuda under Jharigam police limits, had gone to the nearby forest to attend nature’s call when the mishap occurred.
Unaware of the bear’s presence, Gouda went into the forest. As he was passing through, a bear came out of the bush and attacked him, giving him little time to respond.
Critically wounded Gouda was rescued by the local people and immediately rushed to the Jharigam community health centre (CHC) in a 108 ambulance. However, it was too late and the doctors pronounced him as received dead.
On being informed, the police and forest department officials visited the spot and launched an investigation.
Police said that the body will be handed over to the family after autopsy.
