Smartphone brand Realme became popular online in quick time. The latest offering from the brand, Realme 3, sold over 2.1 lakh units in a single day. The brand is now set to extend its reach offline. Dipchand Bihari finds out more about the company’s plans from Dipesh Punamiya, Offline National Sales Head, Realme. Excerpts from the interview:
† What are your expectations from the offline market for Realme?
# Offline segment remains a good market in India even today; and it will continue. We started online sale as a brand but could not neglect offline market to reach the maximum number of consumers. We need offline presence now to grow as brand. We see huge scope to perform and our products can bring good results for online and offline customers.
† Do you have a different strategy for your offline business?
# Yes, to a certain extent our offline market strategy is different from our online one. We will continue to provide products of the best quality be it offline or online.
† What were the mantras that made Realme popular in a short span of time?
# We always focused on delivering the best product at best price and quality, and specifications consumers are looking for. We have been a consumer-centric company and our tagline reads ‘Proud to be Young’. We prioritised camera, battery, processor, RAM, performance and design.
† How is Realme different from other smartphone players in quality and budget?
# Realme is popular for its looks. We have innovated on its looks and introduced beautiful phones. Pricewise, too, we are very competitive in this market. We offer the best quality with great specifications at better prices.
† Realme 3 sold 2.1 lakh units online in single day. Did you expect the overwhelming response?
# It shows the love and appreciation of our customers. The response was overwhelming. I will only thank every customer for trusting us.
† What are your plans for Odisha in the offline market?
# We keep making families wherever we go. We select retailers who fit in for real partners. We will have 40 top Real Partners (multibrand retail outlets) in Bhubaneswar and 180 partners across the state. Realme devices will be available at 250 retail outlets in the state by end of the year, including 55 in Bhubaneswar. The brand will cover the entire region by end of December. We already have six service centres in the state and will eventually expand across the region.
