Tihidi: Even though the biometric system has been put in place in PDS delivery, large-scale irregularities were allegedly committed at Gobindapur panchayat under Tihidi block of Bhadrak district.
People of Gobindapur panchayat alleged that a retailer had been exploiting consumers by charging more price than that fixed by the government for PDS items.
The consumers had met the Collector and the sub-collector in the past, seeking an investigation into the scam.
But no action was taken against the retailer. The locals upset over the problem addressed a press meet Tuesday and warned of an agitation if no action was taken against the retailer before March 2.
The retailer has bungled the PDS quota of a woman Sulochan Majhi for a year, sources said.
In September, 2019, some locals tweeted to the Collector, the sub-collector and the district civil supplies officer and the block civil supplies officer about the irregularities.
