Kolkata: Bengali Actor Rudranil Ghosh, who has landed a major role in a Hindi film on the golden era of India football, said Tuesday that he hopes to learn many things from co-actors Ajay Devgn and Gajraj Rao.
Rudranil Ghosh said director Amit Sharma of ‘Badhaai Ho’ fame had approached him for the role earlier this year and his shooting began Monday.
“Mr Ajay Devgn and Mr Gajraj Rao are my main co-actors. They are experienced and helpful too. Many things to learn from them while this film is being made. My role is also very challenging,” Rudranil told this agency from Mumbai.
Rudranil Ghosh however, refused to disclose much about his character.” Amit Sharma cast me after seeing my work in Bengali films. Gajrajji knows me very well through my Bengali films like ‘Chaplin’ and ‘Vinci Da’. They like my earlier films and acting,” Ghosh said.
The film, with the working title of ‘Maidan’, is based on the golden era of Indian football and how the team, under the guidance of SA Rahim, had brought glory to the country during 1952-62, according to reports.
Reports said Ajay Devgn essays the main lead of the film and Rudranil plays an important member of the football federation.
This incidentally is Rudranil’s Ghosh’s second innings in the Hindi film industry after Michael (2011) by Ribhu Dasgupta where he had been cast opposite Naseeruddin Shah.
