Jagatsinghpur/Berhampur: Vigilance sleuths Wednesday arrested two government officials on charge of possession of disproportionate assets to his known sources of income in Jagatsinghpur and Berhampur.
They were Yudhisthir Dalei, block education officer (BEO) of Dharakote block in Ganjam district and Ramesh Chandra Mishra, Assistant Engineer of Roads & Building Division Jagatsinghpur.
On the orders of Berhampur vigilance SP, officials conducted simultaneous raids at the BEO’s house in Berhampur and Kabisuryanagar and his office in Dharakote.
A ten-member team conducted the raid and seized many bank accounts and LIC deposits worth lakhs of rupees in his name.
Similarly, vigilance officials carried out simultaneous raids at the quarters of Mishra in Jagatsinghpur, a rented house at Housing Board Colony at Baramunda in Bhubaneswar, his newly constructed double storied building at Jagamara in Bhubaneswar, another newly constructed double storied building at Jayabada in Jagatsinghpur, his paternal house at Dihashaibiri, his father-in-law’s house at Purohitapur village, house of his nephew Biswanath Nanda at Mandilo village and his office room at Balikuda R&B Section, Jagatsinghpur.
The officials have unearthed illegal assets worth crores of rupees from both of their possessions, it was learnt. The vigilance officials, however, remained tight-lipped and refrained from revealing further information as the raids were still on.
