Bereft of PMGSY roads, Talguda residents threat poll boycott

The villagers submit a memorandum to ABDO Rajanikanta Das

Dasmantapur: The residents of Talguda village of Girligumma panchayat in Dasamantapur block have threatened to boycott polls as they do not have an all-weather road.

The village is located near the block office but does not have a pucca road under the Pradhan Mantri Gramya Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

After a long wait for an all-weather road, the villagers handed over a memorandum to assistant block development officer (ABDO) Rajanikanta Das as the block development officer (BDO) was not available.

Talguda is just 7.5 km away from RD Chhaka. The construction of a 4.5 km road was completed from RD Chhaka to Rohiamba village last October but the remaining 3 km was left out.

The 30 families of Talguda earn their living from shifting cultivation. The people of the eight nearby villages namely, Tentulipadar, Mandigaon, Khompadar, Sishpas, Bhendiajodi, Godalikhol, Brahmanput and Munuspadar in Kashipur block also depend on this road.

The representatives of nearby villages like Burja Muduli, Chandra Muduli, Shobha Jani, Ghasi Muduli and Durjay Majhi have warned the government and the district administration that if their demand was not addressed they will boycott polls.

After receiving the villagers’ memorandum the administration said that work on the road connecting Talguda will begin shortly.
