Berhampur: For its efforts to fight coronavirus outbreak and several innovations pertaining to it, Berhampur Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Ganjam district Saturday bagged a gold medal at the 72nd SKOCH summit held in New Delhi.
The institution was selected to receive the top award for developing innovative products in fight against coronavirus.
The students of Berhampur ITI had developed several types of equipment to fight COVID-19 which include a mobile smart swab collection kiosk, smart UVC show sole sanitiser, UVC Robo warrior, UVC sanitiser, COVID security system, aerosol box and automatic sanitiser dispenser.
Of them, the institution had filed three of its innovative products for patent registration. These three products are mobile smart swab collection kiosk, UVC Robo warrior and smart UVC show sole sanitiser.
The mobile smart collection kiosk helps technicians collect swab with zero chance of getting infected. The technicians collect swabs from inside the kiosk while the patients stay outside.
UVC Robo warrior disinfects the surfaces with UVC light. It is equipped with a UVC light disinfection apparatus that disinfects the surfaces of public transport system and the isolation rooms occupied by COVID-19 infected or suspected patients.
Smart UVC show sole sanitiser, using sensor and ultraviolet rays, completely disinfects feet and shoes of corona warriors within 8 to 10 seconds and protects them from infections, the institution said.
