Berhampur: Ahead of the third G20 Education Working Group Meeting at Bhubaneswar from April 27 to 29, students of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) here formed a human-chain in the form of the acronym of the Group of Twenty.
Wearing blue and saffron uniforms, 1,500 students, including 400 girls, on Wednesday sat in the playground of the institute as part of the Jan Bhagidari event for the ensuing G20 Education Working Group Meeting in the state capital.
India has assumed presidency of the G20 group for one year. The group comprises 19 countries – Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the USA – and the European Union.
The government has decided to launch Jan Bhagidari events across the state to generate interest among people about the G20 events under India’s presidency.
“The government had asked us to organise innovative events in the wake of the third G20 Education Working Group Meeting at Bhubaneswar. We decided to form a human chain to generate interest among the students,” Rajat Kumar Panigrahy, principal of ITI, said.
