Bhadrak: Vigilance sleuths arrested Bhadrak block CDPO Sunanda Das and supervisor Sulochana Behera for taking a Rs 10,000 bribe from an Anganwadi worker Wednesday.
As per sources, the recruitment of an Anganwadi worker at Saragadia mini Anganwadi centre under Bania panchayat in this block was done July 7, 2020. Itishree Sethi, daughter of Prasanta Kumar Sethi of the village, was recruited there.
However, at the time of her recruitment, CDPO had demanded Rs 50,000 as a bribe for the post. But Itishree did not pay the bribe amount at that time. Later the CDPO threatened Itishree again and again that if she did not pay a minimum of Rs 10,000 as bribe then she will have to face various problems in her job. In this regard, Prasanta complained at the Balasore Vigilance office Tuesday.
As per the instruction of CDPO Sunanda Das, Prashanta was handing over Rs 10,000 bribe to Sulochana at the district social welfare office when the Vigilance officials caught Sulochana redhanded and arrested both Sulochana and Sunanda. A case (21/23) was registered against the duo by the Vigilance department. Balasore Vigilance additional SP SK Majhi, DSP Dakshin Charan Murmu, Inspectors Dushmanta Nayak, Uluki Behera, Jasmini Poi, and Bhadrak DSP Santosh Kumar Samantaray along with other staff were involved in the joint raid conducted by Balasore and Bhadrak Vigilance teams.
