Bhadrak: Protesting the government’s negligence in paddy procurement, farmers of Bhadrak Monday staged a road blockade by putting paddy sacks at Basantia Market on Bhadrak-Anandapur State Highway-53.
According to the farmers, Basantia Seva Samiti in the district’s Bant block has not procured any paddy for two months. Further, paddy bags have been stacked in the open and sprouts have come out of some bags after the recent unseasonal rains.
More than 40 farmers are part of the road blockade. Bant police have been deployed to prevent any untoward situation.
Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded on either side of the road because of the protest.
