Bhangarh Fort: Haunted by magician’s love

The Bhangarh Fort is considered to be one of the most haunted places in India.

The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has forbidden access to the site between sunset and sunrise. People have reported that they have often heard strange noises and seen weird incidents. They have words being said, felt the sweet smell of ittar and have seen shadows dancing to the chimes of music.

Folklore has it that a magician by the name of Singhiya fell in love with Ratnavati, the Princess of Bhangarh. So he prepared a special fragrance and gave to the maid of the princess. He had hoped that once the princess smells the magic potion, she would fall in love with him. However, Ratnabati saw through Singhiya’s plan and threw away the bottle containing the fragrance.

Feeling heartbroken bitter, the wizard is said to have placed a curse upon the city, and many believe his ghost still haunts the fort.

Locals informed that whoever has tried to stay inside after sunset has never come out.
