Bhubaneswar: Four killed in late night road mishap

Bhubaneswar: As many as four persons were killed in a severe road mishap after a speeding car hit their vehicle at Nalco Square here late Wednesday night.

The deceased were identified as Debabrata Dash (30), Subhadra Dash (60), Priyabrata Dash (32) and Barada Prasad Parida. The age of the fourth deceased is yet to be ascertained. Three of the deceased were close friends, staying at Sector II in Niladri Vihar area under Chandrasekharpur police limits. The lady, Subhadra Dash, was picked up on the way to Bhubaneswar and is said to be an acquaintance, it was learnt from sources.

According to a source, the deceased were returning from Balasore after the completion of some work. They were headed towards home in a Hyundai Grand i10 car Wednesday. As they were nearing Nalco Square, a Hyundai Creta speeding at about 200km/hr towards Jayadev Vihar rammed their vehicle, killing all of them on the spot.

Police identified the driver of the Creta car as Debasmit Padhi, a resident of Pokhariput area. He was allegedly driving the car at top speed under the influence of alcohol. He also suffered minor injuries and is undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital.

Police investigation is underway to find out further details.
