Bhubaneswar: In an inspiring incident for young women, a brave young girl here stood up to couple of miscreants who were harassing her and made them apologise and do sit-ups in public with support from locals.
According to the young woman, a couple of men from Jagannath Nagar area near Rasulgarh had been verbally harassing her. Things crossed limits when they chased her on a motorcycle and passed lewd comments while she was riding her scooter Monday.
Instead of shying away, she faced off with them following which locals gathered and came in support of the brave girl. In no mood to relent, she went on to slap them, made them apologise and perform sit-ups in public. They were later handed over to Laxmi Sagar police.
“They followed me for nearly 10 minutes and were passing lewd comments. I felt uncomfortable. I managed to bring them to a crowded place and intentionally hit their motorcycle. After they fell off, I went on kicking and slapping the duo. I also made them do sit-up,” said the girl.
The crowd, meanwhile, was cheering for her while many were recording the unusual incident with their mobile phones. The video of the incident has gone viral since.
