Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Thursday said that 118 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the city in past 24 hours.
While 71 of them are quarantine cases, 47 are local contact ones. Meanwhile, 90 persons who earlier tested positive for the disease have recovered.
“Further contact tracing is still continuing. Primary contacts & nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised and will be under active surveillance,” BMC said. It further added that all positive cases have been shifted to dedicated COVID hospitals.

According to a notification issued by the civic body, as of Thursday, 3,472 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar out of which 2,151 have recovered. While there are 1,301 active cases, 18 persons succumbed to the disease.
Meanwhile, Odisha’s COVID-19 tally touched 40,717 with the biggest single-day spike of 1,699 cases, even as 10 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 235. As many as 1,073 people were detected positive from quarantine centres.
The state Wednesday tested 15,086 samples, taking the total number of such clinical examinations conducted to 6,00,591.
