Bhubaneswar reports 2 new coronavirus cases, 5 more recover

Bhubaneswar: Two new COVID-19 positive cases surfaced Tuesday in the state capital, the BMC said in a Tweet.

Of the two, one is a 39-year-old resident of Jayadev Vihar area near Mayfair Hotel. He had travel history to Mumbai. The other one is from Saranapalli area under Ward No-26. He contracted the virus from an earlier patient who worked as a service provider of a private hospital.

These two patients have been shifted to COVID-19 hospitals here.

At the same time, five male patients have recovered in the city and have been discharged. These cured patients include a 36-year-old railway staff and a resident of HB Colony in Dumduma area aged 37 years. The others who have recovered are a 22-year-old male from Nirankari Nagar in Salia Sahi, a Nayapalli area resident aged 30 years and a 27-year-old resident of Bhimpur area residing near the BPIA.

With the detection of two fresh cases, the tally in the capital city has gone up to 198. While the number of active cases stands at 96, a total of 98 patients have so far been discharged from hospitals after their recovery. The disease has so far claimed three lives in the city.
