According to sources, the RTO-I has cancelled DLs of 13 persons and RTO-II of 84 persons. They informed that 50 more cases of traffic violation are also being looked into by the officers of the RTO. The sources stated that the licenses of most of these violators will also be cancelled.

Interestingly, most of the traffic rule violators were caught driving two-wheelers without using helmets. In most cases the two-wheelers did not belong to them also.

“If any traffic rule violator manages to flee during checking, the vehicle he or she was driving will be seized the next time. We will keep track of the vehicle and it will be seized when it is seen at another checking point,” said Pradeep Mohanty who is an officer in the RTO.

The teams involved at checking points mostly issue challans if a vehicle or the person driving it is seen violating rules. Owners or drivers of the vehicles have to pay heavy fines for traffic rule violations.
