Bhubaneswar: The 6Pockets club here will host the East Zone 6Pockets Snooker Championships. The tournament will be played September 5-14. Top players of Odisha and the neighbouring states will be participating in the event.
Among the top cueists participating in the tournament are Shahbaz Khan (PSPB), Neeraj Kumar (Railways), Manish Jain (West Bengal) and Odisha’s own Ashutosh Padhy. It should be stated here that Ashutosh currently represents GAIL in the nationals.
Giving this information tournament coordinator and senior player Govind Sharma said at a press conference that the tournament is being hosted so that Odisha can be brought at par at the national level in cue sports. This is the second time that the 6Pockets Club is hosting a major tournament. Last year it had hosted the All Odisha 6Red Championships quite successfully.
There will be good prize money on offer to. The winner and the runner-up will get Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 each. The losing semifinalist, quarterfinalists and pre-quarterfinalists will get Rs 5,000, Rs 2,500 and Rs 1,250 respectively.
Players who will score breaks of 75 points and above will each get Rs 5,000.
