Bhubaneswar: As many as 2,32,264 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise across 285 booths of Bijepur Assembly seat in Bargarh district, chief electoral officer SK Lohani has said.
According to Lohani, out of the 2,32,264 voters; 1,20,135 are male and 1,12,114 are female while the remaining 15 are transgender voters.
Speaking about the facilities at the polling centres, Lohani said, “There would be 285 wheelchairs in place to facilitate 2750 physically challenged voters.”
Out of 285 polling booths, 129 have been identified as sensitive and another six have been marked as hyper-sensitive booths.
A total of 1,895 staffers and 32 sector officers have been deployed for smooth polling. 441 vehicles have been pressed into service. For the free and fair election, 14 CCTV cameras have been installed at strategic locations and arrangement for webcasting has been made at 28 centres.
While 77 micro observers have been deployed for the management of the entire electoral process, videography will be done at 16 centres. Brail ballot papers have already been dispatched to 148 centres and 570 volunteers have been roped in, informed Lohani.
The state government has declared October 21 as paid holiday for those working in industries, shops and business establishments. This apart, it has been directed that all industrial units, markets and business establishment will remain closed on this day to maximise participation of voters.
