Bijepur project may get cabinet nod today

Bhubaneswar: An important meeting of the state cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will be held at 5.30pm Wednesday. The meeting will be held through the video conferencing mode.

As many as 18 proposals of various departments including Health & Family Welfare, Energy, Industries, Water Resources, Finance, Law, Labour & ESI and Panchayati Raj will be placed before the panel for approval.

A proposal for sanction of government guarantees of Rs 1500 crore in favour of GRIDCO for the term loan availed from banks during the financial year 2019-20 will be placed while the cabinet is also likely to approve amendments to the Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR) which will replace VAT and entertainment tax incorporating GST. The definition of the downstream industry will also be changed, the source said. The cabinet will also consider an amendment to the Orissa Municipal Act, 1950 and the Orissa Municipal Corporation Act, 2003.

The financial bid for execution of Gangadhar Meher lift irrigation project at Bijepur may get the cabinet nod. The government is likely to take an important decision related to Odisha Civil Service examinations and court fees. Four to five drinking water supply projects are also likely to be approved at the meeting.
