Biju Patnaik International Airport is the best: Amitabh Bachchan

Bhubaneswar: Amitabh Bachchan has used several national and international airports as part of his hectic travelling schedule, but the superstar rates Bhubaneswar airport as his favourite one.

The superstar revealed his interest in Bhubaneswar airport while talking to an English magazine recently.

While Bachchan does not like overcrowded airports in metros, he prefers comparatively small, less crowded but clean ones in smaller cities. Similarly, he prefers smaller but comfortable airplanes.

The five favourite airports of Bachchan are Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal, Cochin International Airport in Kerala, Zurich International Airport in Switzerland, Heathrow Airport in London and Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.

But Biju Patnaik International Airport is his most favourite one.

This globe trotter actor, who has a soft corner for planes since his childhood days and always has a desire to fly planes, heaps praise on the ground staff of Biju Patnaik International Airport, saying they are affable and courteous.

Though the airport is smaller in comparison to other ones, the cleanliness and tranquillity of the airport attract him.

He mentions that one can find all facilities of a bigger airport here and he has never experienced that much hustle and bustle of Mumbai and Delhi airports. All the procedures get done calmly and quietly here.

More importantly, as the airport is near the city, one does not need to prepare for it much earlier, he observes.

He ranks his in-laws’ city Bhopal’s airport at second position. What he likes most of Bhopal’s airport is its lighting system. The use of solar power in Cochin international airport touches him most.

On the other hand, he says he never likes his home town Mumbai airport for all the media paparazzi and it being overcrowded.

Biju Patnaik International Airport, Director, Suresh Chandra Hota said, “We are humbled by such comments. It encourages us to work harder with dedication.”
