Bike ambulance services ‘Swasthya Rakshak’ launched in Sundargarh

Sundargarh: In a bid to provide emergency health services in remote areas, a bike ambulance service named as ‘Swasthya Rakshak ‘was introduced in Sundargarh district, Wednesday.

Inaugurating the service, District Collector Nikhil Pavan Kalyan said the bike ambulance will go to the remotest of localities and ferry patients to the nearest hospital or health centre. On the occasion, nine two-wheeler ambulances were dedicated to the people of the district.

In the first phase, the nine bike ambulances will provide service to people of Rajgangpur, Koira and Gurundia blocks.The services will be extended to other blocks in a phased manner, the Collector said.

The ambulance service will help increase the ratio of institutional child delivery while people living in inaccessible areas will also get timely treatment in Government hospitals. The quick response ambulance will also reduce infant and maternal mortality rate in the district, the Collector added.

Sundargarh CDMO Dr Saroj Kumar Mishra, ADMO Dr Purnachandra Sahu, SLO Dr Shakti Prasad Padhi and DPM Deepak Kumar Mohanty were present at the inaugural programme when the services were launched.
