Bhubaneswar: Continuing its drive to spread awareness about traffic rules among the citizens, the Commissionerate Police along with the Women’s Adventure Club (OWAC) Sunday organised a women’s all-women motor cycle rally in the Capital here.
Sagarika Nath, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Traffic, flagged off the bike rally in order to spread awareness about road safety and the new Motor Vehicles Act. The bike rally which was organised to mark the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary was started at Master Canteen, Sunday morning.
More than hundred women from all walks of the life including students, working women and even housewives took part in the rally. The participants hailed the new traffic rules claiming that it is for the good of all the commuters and also should follow it for their own benefits. The number of accidents that has become a menace in our state can be controlled only by adhering to the traffic rules. The participants urged the people to wear helmets, seat belts , avoid talking on mobile phones while driving and avoid ingestion of alcohol or any intoxicants during driving.
