Biopic of Padma Shri nominee chatasali teacher ‘Nanda Sir’ to release soon

Jajpur: A biopic made in Odia language on Padma Shri nominee Nanda Prusty, the popular teacher from Kantira village under Sukinda block of Jajpur district, will be released on OTT soon.

First poster of the feature film was released at the Rotary Bhawan conference hall on Gems School premises in Jajpur Road locality Saturday evening. The movie depicts the 104-year-old teacher ‘Nanda Sir’ who taught the poor students from nearby villages free of charge in his chatasali (informal school) for 82 years.

According to a spokesperson of the production house, Nanda Sir was earlier recommended by the State government to the Central government for Padma Shri award.

Considering the elderly teacher’s lifelong dedication to educating the poor and downtrodden children and after the media became abuzz with it, the Central government announced to confer the award on him.

The centenarian teacher will be felicitated with the award November 9, 2021 in New Delhi. Even at this age, he has not stopped teaching poor and downtrodden rural students. The elderly man has set an example for many people in society, the spokesperson added.

In the feature film, Nanda Sir expresses his desire to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It is pertinent to mention, the biopic has been titled ‘Nanda Mastranka Chatasali’. It was shot at several locations in Jajpur. Last part of the movie will be shot in New Delhi when Nanda Sir receives the Padma Shri award. The film is likely to release in March, 2022.
