Mumbai: Versatile actor Randeep Hooda turns a year older today. Born August 20, 1976 in Rohtak, Haryana, Hooda is one of the finest actors of this generation. He is counted among the many talented actors who do justice to their characters in every movies they do.
With no godfather in the film industry, Randeep started his career in Hindi film industry in the year 2001 with the film Monsoon Wedding. After initial rejections, Randeep slowly carved a niche for himself in the industry with his acting skills.
He always won the hearts of audience with his acting. After appearing as supporting star in many movies, he finally bagged movies as lead actor.
It was his transformation in the movie Sarbjit (2016) that won his accolades. Fans were shocked by his transformation for the character. Randeep who weighed around 95 kilos for Do Lafzon Ki Kahaani had to lose around 18 kilos for his character in Sarbjit.
According to reports, he had lost his 18 kg weight in just 28 days. He was assisted by his sister Dr. Anjali Hooda Sangwan, who is a medical (MBBS, MD) doctor trained in India and in the United States of America.
Randeep had adopted many other methods to lose weight. He did not consume calories and carbohydrates. There was only protein in his food. Apart from this, he used horseback riding to reduce calories. Randeep is fond of horse riding. Apart from Randeep, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Richa Chaddha also played important roles in the film.
The turning point in his career came when Hooda starred in the commercially successful Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010), and was subsequently noted for his performance in Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster (2011), which earned him an IIFA Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination. His starring roles in thrillers Jannat 2 (2012) and Jism 2 (2012) sustained him success at the box-office as he continued to garner praise for his performances in such films as the road drama Highway (2014).
