Bhubaneswar: Birthday greetings poured in for chief minister Naveen Patnaik from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Union Ministers, his party colleagues, industry captians, political adversaries and common man as he turned 73 Tuesday.
However, the CM cancelled the celebration as a mark of expressing solidarity to the people affected by cyclone Titli and large scale damage due to subsequent floods in parts of the state.

It may be noted here that he also had cancelled his birthday celebration in 2013 and 2014 due to cyclones Phailin and Hudhud which had caused massive damage to human lives and property.
“In view of the cyclone and flood in some parts of our state the chief minister Sri Naveen Patnaik will not receive birthday greetings on Tuesday so well-wishers are requested not to throng at Naveen Nivas,” read a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office Monday.

However Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dharmendra Pradhan, Niranjan Patnaik, Dillip Ray, Sand artist Sudrashan Patnaik and many other dignitaries and officials wished the CM on his birthday.
