Bhubaneswar: The body of a youth, suspected to have committed suicide, was recovered from a field near Andharua village under Khandagiri police station limits Monday. The deceased was identified as Sukesh Kumar Panda of Gopinathpur village in Nayagarh district.
Panda along with his wife and children was staying near Durga Mandap at Ghatikia. He worked as supplier of construction materials. He had been reportedly missing from his home for around seven days. Some villagers of Andharua village, who spotted his body in a farmland, informed the Khandagiri police. A bottle of poison, a small knife and liquor bottles were found near his body. He ended his life by consuming the poison, it is suspected.
According to his wife, Panda had invested a huge amount of money in the online trade of Bitcoin, the digital currency. He took loans from many people dreaming of handsome returns on the investment. Many of Panda’s friends have also made similar investments.
Police sources claimed that Panda was under severe financial burden due to the loans he had taken. Police also claimed that they failed to get any evidence regarding his investments in the Bitcoin trade. However, they agreed that he was undergoing severe financial trauma .
