Bizzare! Recovered COVID-19 patient tests positive again

Bhubaneswar: A woman, who had recovered from the novel coronavirus about a week ago, was again found suffering from the infection in Balianta block on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar raising questions on the reliability of the COVID-19 testing conducted by the health department.

Sources said that the woman is a cancer patient and had tested positive for COVID-19 August 7 after which she was admitted to a COVID hospital in Bhubaneswar. However, hospital authorities discharged the woman August 16 with a COVID-19 negative report.

After she returned home, the woman and six of her family members including a minor girl fell ill following which she was asked by the panchayat representative to undergo COVID-19 swab test again at a dak bungalow in Balianta.

To everyone’s shock and surprise, her test report again came out COVID-19 positive, Saturday night.

Her testing positive has prompted villagers to question how the woman could again test positive when she had already recovered from the disease a week ago.
