Bhubaneswar: Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, BJB Autonomous College, Bhubaneswar, inducted its 2018 batch students with a day-long orientation programme held on the campus Friday.
Prasanna Kumar Mohanty, principal, BJB Autonomous College, kick started the proceedings by congratulating the students and insisted them to focus on the technological transitions taking place in print, electronic, social and other new media. He also advised the future journalists to follow and adhere to ethics and professionalism. In his speech he said, “A journalist carries the responsibility of the organisation he or she works in, therefore, they must be “extra careful of their respective duties”.
The orientation programme opened with a special lecture by Prof Minketan Mishra, former DGM, CC, ONGC, on crisis communication and management. In his talk, he briefed on communication network and role of PRO during a crisis. He overviewed electronic media’s impact on the lifestyle of the younger generation in a positive way.
A session on advertising and brand positioning under the title “Dream Merchants” was conducted by Prof Shalini Mohapatra, senior media consultant.
