Balasore: The Bhograi Assembly seat (No: 36) is a segment of the Balasore parliamentary constituency of Balasore district. Fishing and betel-leaf farming are the main occupations of the people here.

There are 2,26,403 voters here, of which males number 1,17,087. The number of females is 1,09,310 and other voters number six.

In 2019, the BJD has again fielded three-time MLA Ananta Das here while the BJP has fielded Ansuman Mohanty as its candidate and the Congress Satyashiv Das.

The candidates of other political parties and Independents are Girish Chandra Parida (Purbanchal Janata Party-Secular), Ramahari Sur (Independent), Ranjeet Kumar Das (Independent), Sheikh Salim Ali (Trinamul Congress) and Nalini Kumar Jena (Bahujan Samaj Party).

There is likely to be a head-on fight between the BJD and the BJP. The BJD has geared up electioneering to retain its bastion, but the BJP is trying hard to capture Bhograi.
