Bhubaneswar:  A delegate of Odisha BJP Sunday met the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) here and apprised him of their apprehension that ruling Biju Janata Dal is likely to rig certain booths. They also demanded announcement of sensitive booth by tonight.

Speaking to reporters after their meeting with the CEO, state BJP vice president Samir Mohanty said, “We are sure that the ruling party will attempt to rig certain booths during the third phase elections this April 23 wherein a number of constituencies will go to polls. Earlier, we had submitted a list of those booths to the CEO and had requested him to announce them as sensitive booths. However, those booths have not been announced as such.”

“We are yet to receive a copy of the list of sensitive booths. We have demanded that we be provided a copy of the sensitive booth list by tonight. Else, we will be forced to stage a sit-in before the CEO office,” he added.

Mohanty further criticised the CEO and said, “The CEO wants to wash his hands off this issue and suggests that it is the responsibility of district collector. However, he is not willing to say why the district administration has not their job so far”.

It may be mentioned here that the state will go for third phase of polls this April 23. Campaigning ended this evening for these six Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly seats.
