BJD lodges FIR against BJP for dropping Special Category Status to Odisha in 2019 manifesto

Bhubaneswar: Taking serious note of not including Special Category Status to Odisha in the 2019 Election Manifesto, the ruling BJD lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Monday.

Seniors members of the party approached Kharvela Nagar Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) and submitted a written FIR, alleging the BJP of cheating 4.5 crore people of Odisha as it dropped Special Category Status promise in 2019 manifesto.

The BJP, in its 2014 manifesto had promised to accord special category status to Odisha.

The letter read, “In 2014, in their election manifesto, the BJP had promised that if they came to power, they would provide Special Category Status to Odisha. However, when they came to power, they did not keep up to their promise and cheated the 4.5 people of Odisha.

This cheating has been proven when in 2019 election manifesto, they dropped the very aspect of Special Category Status for Odisha which they had as the No. 1 point on the first page of their 2014 election manifesto. This conclusively proves that while for five years they were in power in Centre, they promised but cheated 4.5 people of Odisha and their dropping of that promise from their 2019 election manifesto shows that they do not want to deliver on their promise anymore. This is a serious offence and construes cheating the people of Odisha.

We therefore on behalf of Biju Janata Dal request you to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the Bharatiya janata Party for having cheated 4.5 crore people of Odisha on the issue of not providing Special Category status for Odisha despite their promise of 2014 and now dropping altogether from 2019 election manifesto.
